My project proposes using Assistive Design concepts to establish a scientific foundation to formulate a new mobile interactive application targeting augmentative communication to help profoundly deaf children acquire vocabulary.
I am seeking a new concept to increase deaf children's independence, trying to avoid specific attitudinal barriers that impose late learning. We aim to further children's integration into their families and society by using playful processes and user-centered design.
It is known that education is an area that is constantly evolving. Pictorial language has already been used in this field to allow user communication through images. However, there was no particular concern about user interface design, information architecture, or playfulness.
The new game design concept I propose was built with the natural user's needs and characteristics of their learning process, focusing on the stages of a child's development.
